Organized parallel to the Turkish – African Cooperation Summit that was carried out between the 18-21th of August 2008 hosted by the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry, and decided to be founded after the Turkish African NGO’s Forum which was held by the participation of 45 countries from Africa between the 14-16th of August 2008 by TASAM and the Istanbul Declaration published after the Forum, USTKIP’s (International Development and Cooperation Platform of Nongovernmental Organizations) web portal to broadcast in four languages, has been broadcasted in a short time after intense works.

With the web site’s taking its shape, the most important step for civil organizations to work efficiently after the summit, has happened to be institutionalized. Indicating that to provide sustainable development, unity and coordination between nongovernmental organizations, whose numbers have been increasing all over the World, especially in Africa, is the primary aim of USTKIP, Süleyman Şensoy says that, “USTKIP has been designed as a platform in which Turkey’s international  NGO’s and other NGO’s that serve all across the World could interact and work more effectively in their regions or in the international level by collaborating and sharing opinions with each other.” Within this aim USTKIP should be considered as a platform to provide the basis in which related nongovernmental organizations can cooperate on subjects such as the classification of their activities, forming methodology standards, improving their scope and capacity, international relations, social aid, science, culture, education, health, environment, production, investment and technology. It has been declared that the USTKIP web portal ( www.ustkip.org ), in  which think tank organizations, scientists and strategists from all over the world could come together in order to construct new interactions, has been broadcasted today.

Şensoy says: “USTKİP is a project to improve the development of solidarity between all the nongovernmental organizations with the aim of contributing to the analyzing of regional problems through global cooperations.”

Şensoy summarizes the importance of the project as: “ This communication network will facilitate think tank organizations to keep up with the political, socio-cultural and economic developments, both in the levels of government and nongovernmental organizations, to evaluate the present information through sharing with each other and to build up constructive dialogues headed for today and the future.”

In this sense USTKIP, the potential initiator of a network that will supply the continuity of the flow of information, aims at providing the basis for common projects.

TASAM (Turkish Asian Center for Strategic Studies) is the coordinator and the implementer of the project.
