After summarizing the works of TASAM related to Africa since 2004, Suleyman Sensoy, Chairman of TASAM touched on the importance of the “Turkish-African Cooperation Summit”, which will be organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in Istanbul between the dates of 18-21 August 2008, and the “Turkish-African NGOs Forum” organized by TASAM prior to the said Summit.
Murat Bilhan, Retired Ambassador, Vice Chairman of TASAM mentioned the importance of the opening up of Turkey to Africa from the point of view of multi dimensional foreign policy of Turkey; Dr. Engin Selcuk, Director of TASAM on the other hand referred to the importance of forms of lateral relations the Turkish NGOs will establish with African NGOs in the axis of “supranational civil society” concept.

In his speech, Kenan Tepedelen, Ambassador, Coordinator of African Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs talked about “Turkish-African Summit” and highlighted the possible contributions to our country of the relations that would be established with NGOs within this scope.

During the discussion session that started following the speeches, many of the representatives of NGOs stated their expectations and demands with regards to the Forum.
